Cycladic period  (3200-2000 b.c)

Cyclades: It is the complex of the 34 islands of the Central and North Aegean sea. The name Cyclades has been known since anicnet time and it is mentioned by Herodotus, Thoukidides, Stravona, etc. This name was given to the island because of they form a circle around the island of Delos. The most important  creation of the Cycladic civilization were the wonderful marble idols, whose production went on throughout the whole of the third millenium b.c. At the beggining threy were very dhematic, but they ended up in superb, beautifully modelled creations, which are the oldest sculptures in Europe, and most of which have not been fully interpeted until today.
