Knights
In the Middle Ages, from the beginning of the 9th
Century, the first knights appeared in Europe powerful and violent.
Later in 11th Century the Church suceeded to enforce discipline
upone these people and to direct their activities to beneficial
purposes aid to use their power to defend the poor and the weak as
well as Christianity.
In order to become a knight, one had to be trained in hunting and
travelling and familiarize themselves with horses and warfare.
At the age of 20 they were knighted at a special ceremony during
which they were given their swords and had to swear to use them only
for sacred and fair purposes.
Many knights after they called upon from thr Pope, participated in
crusades in the Middle East againsts the Arabs and the Saracens.On
their way to Middles East, they passed through Greece, where they
built many castles. While Greece they spent of time in Corfu, Rhodes
Ko etc.
However, knighthood and their ideal of Knighthood started to wane
around the 15th Century.
